sabbatical Development Final

Continuation on the artefact and previous feedback from my fellow students i decided to revisit the price tags with the new concept in having the designs cut out with ribbon for the tags. The first idea links with the logo the t-shirt and shorts links with my logo. The white card and cut out designs give the price tags a premium chic boutique design  the opposite from a second hand charity shop, i like the contrast between the two because these are not normally associated with second hand products but normally the new designer products. The pink ribbon is used to give a stylish but subtle colour to the price tags. As  you can see the tags do not indicate any prices on them  to show my experience was priceless which is how i came up with the idea of using blank price tags.
Again i really wanted to get the star in my artefact also because i feel  the star represents hope, peace and continuity. I also think the star could show special products  that are not normally donated such as high value items.

Finally here we have all the final price tags together. Even though the tags are different that have a uniform style about them which makes them unique to my experience.

Fragment Reform Final Touches

Feedback
After receiving Feedback i found that people understood the concept however the first two images only had half of face and that was confusing and misleading to the audience. i wanted to show half the face in jail and the other face lighting coming through to show the transition from bad to good. the image showing half a face behind bars and the other half gives subliminal messaging that only part of the man is behind bars and the part of him wanting out of prison gives him the will power to want reform. where in contrast the image without the non prison face does give the sense that the person can reform.

Final Touches

After Playing around with the idea further about the reformed character i decided to simplify the idea by using just  used a profile image on a man showing the stages. Firstly the jailed man, then the reformation beginning whilst  the man is in jail and finally the end result is this completely reformed man. The first two image of the Triptych show the reformation happening slowly only one part of the man face is shown with the jail bars and handcuffs on his ears to indicate he is a prisoner along with his orange prison uniform in frame one. Frame two  the same half of profile is shown only this time he is wearing a suit indicating his  lifestyle changes. Finally the last frame shows the whole of the mans profile without the black jail bars but still in fragments to complete the whole of his reformation. This idea is taken further from the last development where i found too much was going on to understand what was trying to be portrayed. I feel this works better as its more simplistic and shows the fragment reform words better that the previous images. When shown to an audience they understood the message trying to be portrayed which was a reformed Character.

Fragment Reform Design

For this project i had two words "Fragment" and "Reform" and had to come up with a design solution to show this words. whist doing the research i choose to try and go to the psychological route where a person could physically  reform there behaviour. Below was the first design resolution where the reformation would be in the mind with the colours red and green to show the balance to reform someones behaviour for example good and bad. However upon reviewing this piece i can to a conclusion that  although it makes sense to me to the audience it would be something completely different for example many meantion that it indicated memory loss or confusion. This shows how easily it can be interpreted by other people. My words are not easy to show in a design.

The next stage  was to try and simplify the design idea to see if this helps to carry the correct message across. The idea being the puzzle pieces were the fragments and when they were put back in place that was the reformation. However again on the feedback i received it seemed to have been to over ally simplified and the image needed text to explain. Some still associated it with memory because of where the puzzle slot back in place. so the images themselves were gave multilayered communication. An idea was said that maybe a jigsaw noise should have been included. whilst i have not come up with a design solution as such yet that fits appropriately i need to uncover more with the research in order to get a greater understanding of how the readers will see the image.

I feel that the design has come to a stand still and that i need to reflect back on the word reform and try to change the concept that i am trying to portray my work.

Infographics

This project i had to get people to sign a canvas and let me take a picture. I then placed there signature over there  photograph. The key represents how i know the people if they are my family or friends etc.
